Inhumane detention of a U.S. citizen veteran by immigration authorities, the impending loss of protections for hundreds of thousands of TPS holders, the shocking conditions within a new Florida detention facility, police complicity in migrant disappearances, and a recent devastating ICE raid on California farmworkers.

¡Saludos!
Yesterday, this video popped up of a self-proclaimed “chicano” talking down on someone because they look paisa and it inspired me to make a few new shirts to say that we are proud of our roots! I think they’re dope- so check ‘em out and let me know if you like ‘em! I’ll give one away in a secret link somewhere in this newsletter 😇

Below are stories of the week 🙂

La Migra Kidnaps FarmworkersThis week, California witnessed a truly devastating turn of events. La migra descended upon farmworker communities, arresting dozens of essential laborers, tearing families apart. As courageous protestors rallied to defend their neighbors, federal agents responded with brutal force, deploying tear gas and other aggressive tactics against those standing for justice. The incidents on the ground make one thing chillingly clear: this is not about targeting "criminals." Instead, immigration authorities are increasingly coming for everyone they deem "unwelcome," regardless of their contributions or their ties to our communities. These raids demonstrate a stark disregard for human dignity and civil liberties. In these escalating times, please be vigilant and prioritize your safety- especially if you or your loved ones are vulnerable. Stay informed, know your rights, and stand in solidarity with those affected. |

Policeman Says They Aren’t Helping ICE (He lied)In a recently released video, a police officer attempts to argue that their department is not actively assisting ICE. While it's true that not all police departments operate identically, what we've witnessed in Los Angeles and other heavily impacted areas paints a far different picture. Time and again, local police are, in practice, enabling the "disappearing" of migrants. It's truly alarming that some in law enforcement attempt to defend these actions – which effectively amount to kidnappings of individuals without proper judicial warrants. When local police collaborate with ICE by sharing information, or detaining individuals based on administrative warrants that do not grant authority for home entry, they become an undeniable part of the problem. This collaboration erodes trust within communities, and actively facilitates the unjust targeting and detention of our neighbors. |

Alligator Alcatraz Conditions are UnsafeDisturbing reports are emerging from what many are calling a new concentration camp in Florida, detailing conditions that are nothing short of inhumane. We've heard harrowing sound bites from individuals inside, explaining the horrific realities they face daily- reinforcing the shocking images we've already seen of people held in cages. The conditions are deplorable, detainees reportedly lack access to clean water, facilities are unsanitary, and they are denied adequate time outdoors. Perhaps most egregious, the lights are kept on 24 hours a day – a tactic that has previously been argued in legal contexts as cruel and unusual punishment. It is particularly shameful when considering that the vast majority of people held in these facilities do not have a criminal record. For individuals awaiting their day in court, "punishment" should not even be a factor. This situation is a profound stain on our collective conscience. |

Government Ends Protections for ThousandsThe narrative often pushed is that the issue isn't if migrants come, but how – that it's about "coming the right way." Yet, we are witnessing a stark contradiction to this claim. Hundreds of thousands of migrants who were granted Temporary Protected Status (TPS) in the U.S. are now facing the loss of these crucial protections. Once these protections are revoked, these individuals will lose their legal access to work permits and, devastatingly, become deportable. It's critical to remember that these protections were originally granted for a reason; for many, returning to their home countries is simply not safe. This is a profoundly sad development and a stark reminder that, for some, the promise of welcome and safety in this country remains elusive. |

La Migra Disappears U.S. Citizen Who is a Disabled VeteranDuring the recent farmworker raids, a disturbing incident came to light: a security guard was apprehended by la migra. What makes this particularly egregious is that his wife and sister have been unable to locate him, and authorities are providing no answers about his whereabouts. The most unsettling detail? This man is a U.S. citizen and a veteran who bravely served our country. To compound the injustice, he is classified as disabled, making him especially vulnerable. Witnesses report that la migra agents broke his car window and acted aggressively during his apprehension. If this is how individuals who have served our nation are treated, what does it signify for the rest of us? This incident raises serious questions about due process and the unchecked power of immigration enforcement. |
