#17 ¿Que pasó? with Señor B - week of 7/21
horrifying realities of ICE agents joking about detaining people and receiving bonuses, the abandonment of a pregnant woman by immigration officers after her husband's forced removal, the injustice in the William McNeal Jr. case despite initial compliance issues, and the current administration's subtle yet dangerous promotion of white supremacist ideals, highlighting the hypocrisy in how "settlers" and "immigrants" are perceived.

¡Saludos!
Thank you all for all the support you give me. This week I felt pretty defeated by how often my content was suppressed. I don’t think I’m talking about any topics that are particularly controversial tbh so all of you showing up for me means the world!
Watching my content and reading this newsletter helps, if you want to go above and beyond here are 2 more ways→
I made new shirts! Find them here. I think they’re a dope way to fight against the perceptions that being paisa is bad. Plus could be a cool gift for your paisa homies 🙂
As usual I’m trying to grow my support system on YT. Any support is appreciated! We are almost at 500 🫠
Below are stories of the week 😁
Also I hid a random free shirt somewhere in here. Hope it brings someone joy this week. Buena suerte 🤩

ICE Agents Joke About Detaining People & Boast of $30K Bonus?Familia, what I'm about to share is infuriating, and it's a continued reminder of the realities many in our community face. Back in May, a U.S. citizen captured a terrifying encounter with ICE agents on recording, and it's gone viral for all the wrong reasons. This individual was stopped by highway patrol, likely profiled because of how they looked, and then, to make matters worse, highway patrol called in ICE. From the moment ICE arrived, the agents were aggressive and violent. But here's where it gets truly chilling: on the recording, you can clearly hear these agents telling a U.S. citizen (who they mistook for an undocumented person) that he had no rights. Think about that… And if that wasn't enough to make your blood boil, the recording ends with the agents joking and laughing about the situation, before one of them casually mentions a "$30,000 bonus." A bonus for what? For terrorizing people? For violating rights? This isn't just an isolated incident; it's a massive attack on our shared humanity and a blatant disregard for basic rights. It's a reminder of the power dynamics at play and why staying informed and vigilant is so crucial. |

Pregnant Woman Abandoned After Husband Forcibly Taken by Immigration OfficersAnother deeply disturbing incident has come to light, highlighting the relentless trauma our communities are enduring. Imagine this: a pregnant woman watching, helpless, as immigration officers forcibly kidnap her husband right in front of her. These officers, as is often the case, were covering their faces, acting like thugs, and had no warrant for his arrest. They just showed up and took him. But the cruelty didn't end there. After snatching her husband, they then told this pregnant woman to drive herself home, knowing full well she doesn't have a license and doesn't know how to drive. The level of disregard for human life, for families, and for basic safety is absolutely horrifying. This isn't just about enforcement; it's about inflicting fear and trauma. Our communities are experiencing an unimaginable level of pain and instability because of these actions. It's truly an attack on our humanity. |

William McNeil Jr. Deserved Better: Non-Compliance Is NOT a Call for ViolenceI need to talk about something that's been heavy on my mind: the case of William McNeil Jr. I know some people's support has changed after police body camera footage was released, showing how the interaction started. But let me be absolutely clear: what happened to William McNeil Jr. was not okay, and my stance hasn't changed. Even if someone isn't immediately obedient to a police officer's commands, it does not give that officer the right to resort to violence. Non-compliance is not a justification for a power trip, nor is it an excuse to harm someone. From what we've seen, the original stop itself didn't even make sense in the first place. This entire situation is a reminder that even when things aren't "perfect" from a civilian's side, the response from law enforcement must always be proportionate and professional. An officer's job is to de-escalate, not to escalate into harm just because someone isn't complying instantly. The officer involved in this incident needs to be put on leave (unpaid) and be held accountable. We cannot allow this kind of unchecked violence to become normalized. |

The Current Administration: Pushing White Supremacy and Rewriting HistoryI need to talk about something that's been putting a target on content creators like me: the continued, blatant promotion of white supremacy by the current administration. I spoke about this in a recent video, and it most likely put my account on a suppression list again. But honestly, I couldn't not speak about this. This topic is too important to stay silent on. If you haven't seen it, I encourage you to watch the video where I broke down the history behind a particular image that this administration has been actively pushing. It’s not just subtle dog whistles anymore; the promotion of white supremacist ideals is more apparent than ever before. Whether it's through rhetoric, policy, or the symbols they choose to elevate, they are actively trying to rewrite history and divide us. This isn't just a political disagreement; this is a fundamental attack on the fabric of our society and the values of equality and justice. We, as a people, are going to remember this era, and let me tell you, this administration is going to be on the wrong side of history. What do you all think about all this? Are you seeing it too? Hit reply and let me know your thoughts. We need to keep this conversation going. |

"Settlers" vs. "Immigrants": The HypocrisyThere's a wild disconnect happening with how some white Americans talk about migration. It's truly a masterclass in mental gymnastics, trying to separate themselves from "migrants"; almost as if the word itself is a slur when applied to certain people. They act as if their own ancestors didn't, in fact, "immigrate" here, often framing them as "settlers" instead. But let's be real: for many, "settler" is a term that conveniently erases the violent displacement of Indigenous peoples. And the word "immigrant" has been weaponized and loaded with negative connotations, especially for people of color, despite its neutral definition. Meanwhile, if you're white and moving abroad, you're often given the glamorous title of "expat"… implying a temporary, privileged, and often white-collar stay, rather than the same struggles faced by those labeled "immigrants." You know what? Maybe I'm going to start calling myself a "settler" too. Or even better, an "expat"! Maybe then they'll roll out the red carpet and give us the "better treatment" reserved for those deemed more "deserving." It's satirical, yes, but it highlights the absurd double standards at play. This isn't just semantics; it's a reflection of deeper biases and historical amnesia. The chisme behind this is infuriating, and I dove into some of it in my latest video. Make sure to watch it to see how this narrative is pushed and how we can push back. |

Personal Update:
Every year a core group of my friends and I get together to celebrate something we call “Daddy Issues Day.” It all began when we realized that a bunch of us kept hanging out together on Father’s Day since we didn’t have our dads around. I’m sure it was no coincidence that a bunch of us with similar traumas came together and became friends lol
This year we rented a house in some nice town in California with a pool and games to just spend time together and catch up. Now that we are all grown up it’s hard to meet on the exact day that we used to before but we make sure that this tradition continues.
I encourage you all to also try and find a way to bring a positive spin to something that was rough from your past as well! For us, this is one way to celebrate life and each other. What are some traditions you all hold with your friends?
