No Kings in America
This past October 18th, the people made their voices heard. From coast to coast and yes, I saw the beautiful sight right here in multiple cities across the Bay Area, millions took to the streets for the "No Kings in America" day of action.
This was a massive, nationwide pushback against the attacks on our democracy: the cruel immigration policies, the erosion of the First Amendment, and the simple fact that America has no kings.
And for those who try to label this movement as "anti-American," let me tell you: there were more American flags out there than on any day I've seen all year, except for the Fourth of July.
This is where we take a stand in California. The fight to protect our votes and ensure fair representation is on the ballot right now. Please vote YES on Prop 50! This measure is our state's way of fighting back against power grabs at the national level that are trying to rig future elections. We have to defend our votes now to ensure our voices matter in the years to come.
The energy from the streets was incredible, but it can’t end there. We need to stay united and keep speaking out! Our work is far from over.

Indigenous People’s Day: A Reminder of the Work Ahead
Last Monday, we recognized Indigenous People’s Day.
As many of you know, the President controversially revoked the official designation, pushing the country back to celebrating Columbus Day. This was a blatant reminder: the current administration will continue to prioritize and push white supremacy narratives that suit their political agenda.
The historical facts are undeniable: Columbus was a horrible human being whose arrival initiated the genocide of Indigenous communities. To celebrate him after knowing the full history is not just an act of ignorance; it signals a proud endorsement of that violent, colonial legacy.
This is why our continued advocacy and education are so critical. Celebrating Indigenous People’s Day is about truth, respect, and finally acknowledging the people who were here first and whose struggles continue today. We must keep the spotlight on Indigenous voices and movements, rejecting the narrative of erasure and violence.
@senor_barragan I’d rather celebrate indigenous people than that guy #indigenous #native #history #columbus #SeñorB

Visas Stripped for Language: A Dangerous Precedent
This week, the administration took a dramatic and deeply concerning step: revoking the visas of six foreign nationals because they exercised their right to speak out. These individuals made critical, and admittedly crude, comments on social media following the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
In my opinion, these comments did not constitute hate speech or meet any standard for what should trigger government action. However, even if you think that the language was offensive, for the administration to revoke immigration status over it sets an extremely dangerous precedent for free speech. Non-citizens in the U.S. have constitutional protections, and using a political figure's death as an excuse to police global commentary and punish critics is an act of authoritarian overreach.
This is even more alarming when you compare it to the ongoing scandal where young Republicans are recorded spewing actual hate speech, and the Vice President and party leadership simply brush it aside.
The hypocrisy is wild: the administration seeks to weaponize immigration law to silence critics from abroad, yet defends and ignores actual hate and bigotry within its own people. This action is not about protecting Americans; it is about suppressing dissent and sending a chilling message to anyone who dares to criticize this government.
@senor_barragan They are taking it too far #freedomofspeech #breakingnews #immigrants #visas #usa

Personal Update:
Earlier this week I asked folks for suggestions of where I could find me some uchepos and folks suggested a spot that was right around the corner from where I used to work! I decided to stop by and it was amazing. I plan on stopping by more spots over the next few weeks for a new series to uplift local restaurants and folks in my community.
